an orc meets an elf

I felt someone grab my shoulder and saw him pointing toward the covered wagon. There stood the young elf, electricity still sparking around her body, the bonds lying scorched on the ground around her. Her blue eyes pierced into me through her wet blond hair. -Chal Dok's Story, Derek Harwell

This was a big deal. ^_^ My boyfriend, , has had this character Chal Dok for a long time, even before he made a character based off him in Neverwinter Nights over a year ago. He's had this story in his head for a long time, and finally got to writing some of it down for use in that MMORPG, and for his fellow players in it. When I read the story, I DEMANDED that I draw fanart of it. I was expecting something full of crazy violence, gothic themes, and a basic ugly world all around...which I suppose it kinda was actually...but I didn't expect to find a romantic beauty-and-the-beast type story in there as well!! 0o0 Nomonel and Chal Dok's relationshp was even better than that stereotype, though. They have such a deep, painful connection...

So, here we have a re-creation of the scene where Chal Dok sees her (conscious) for the first time. I loved the image he created in his writing there, and had to try to make it myself. ^_^ So, here you have it! In the end, the 2nd and 3rd panels at the bottom there aren't totally right in terms of reflecting the story, but Derek and I both think the first panel is spot-on. ^o^ This whole took quite a lot of effort...it really only shows in the darkness around the wagon in that first panel, though. The inking, though it took me forever, came out CRAAAA-PPY. Yikes. But, oh well. Pretty colors!! COLORS!! *points*

This was also interesting, because Derek is from kind of a different fandom world than I...we realized in the process of this picture that he had a much different view of fanart than us in the anime fandom. When someone draws fanart for us, we all go crazy and lovelovelove ANYbody trying out drawing our characters. Derek is much more protective of his creations, though; un-requested fanart is like someone trying to steal his babies!! Makes sense. So, it was a total honor for him to let me get inside his characters like this. It was cool.

So, yup. Let me know how you like the lighting and all. It was really hard to make it look like all the light was coming from her...and this was also kinda practice with using darker tones in general, for my next big coloring project...
